I love movies and I see many. One that I could recommend for you to see is 12 Years of Slavery by director Steven McQueen, made in 2013. It is a biographical drama. I liked this film because it is based on a real event that was taken from an 1853 memoir that tells the story of its author Solomon Nortup, an African-American man who was born free and was kidnapped to force him to live as a slave for 12 years. Salomon is a musician, educated and faces repeated abuse to the point of stripping him of his own dignity. Moreover, not only is his freedom taken away, but also his identity, in order to erase all his past, including his name. The film shows the raw and unambiguous way in which the slaves were treated. The injustice and how the power of another human being is capable of humiliating and degrading another person who does not have the same color skin.  And where Solomon find himself at the crossroads of lying or telling the truth in order to survive and cannot and should not...

MY BEST HOLIDAYS

Imagen
Hello  It is difficult to choose which has been the best holidays I have ever lived, however there is very special one and that was when I traveled to Italy in December 2016 to spend Christmas in Florence. I had always been very conservative about the good night, always spending it at home and sharing it with family. This time was different, I was with my husband in a city that I always wanted to know, on the other side of the world with a very different rhythm of life than the one I had lived in previous year. I remembre that on the good night, after dinner, we went for a walk around the city, there was music in many corners and it was all lit up with  Christmas decorations, with many little papers tied ti its branches, they were wishes that the passers-by asked for. I found it wonderful!! This trip was planned with time and we wanted to get to know a lot in just 20 days.  We were in Florence for 6 days, visiting museums, churches, markets and walking the streets along t...

A COUNTRY ´D LIKE TO VISIT

Imagen
I have on my list many countries to visit and I think that if I could do it now it would be Turkey, I am attracted by its culture, its people, its history as an Ottoman Empire. I have read and visited some websites about this country and what I have seen has caught my attention. Istanbul, formerly Constantinople, is a city with many attraction that I could not miss, such as its mosques for their architecture, mainly Hagia Sophia, an orthodox cathedral and now a much visited museum. To walk one afternoon by boat through the Bosboro, which divides the continent, with one foot in Asia and the other in Europe, does not make it attractive? Also visit near Istanbul the Cotton Castle a place white earth terraces and that has thermal baths, wonderful! Another visit not to be missed would be to  Cappadocia between mountains and lunar landscape and fly in those hot air balloons of different colors and see from the heights the sunrise, an unforgettable experience. And finally, to visit the gr...
