CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAM

I think the topic we are writing about now is quite interesting because it is a good time to remember the faculty.




Today I'm in my fourth year of my Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, a career that I love and enjoy very much, even though the academic load is often heavy, as it is now, when I have seven branches, because last year I had to postpone a semester for health reasons and I had to postpone some  bouquets.


I have 3 branches of workshop, which are painting, complementary to painting and drawing. The others are theoretical seminars related more to history and political contexts, philosophy and psychoanalysis. The other is a theoretical seminar related to history and political contexts, philosophy and psychoanalysis. More English that is as a general training branch. 

 

Something very particular happened to me because the first two years I didn't enjoy it as much as I do now, because I felt like I had gone back to school with very basic activities and I felt a bit frustrated. I think that the academic network should be more flexible for those branches that do not need continuity, that would allow to advance and to decongest the curriculum of the last years because more time could be dedicated to the specialty.

 

With respect to the infrastructure of the Faculty of Arts, it is not the best, because our career has not been given the importance it deserves. The workshops should be in better conditions of cleanliness, lighting and space to work. The rooms for theory are small and there is overcrowding. Open spaces such as gardens are always poorly maintained and there is no adequate furniture that could be used for sharing, lunch or study in some cases.  The library is a place that has good space, however with the rain of two years ago the first floor was disabled and there were no resources to repair it.  A space that we have only three years ago and that does not have many books for all the students when it is required.


Nowadays it is vital to have technological tools for the development of the whole career study. There are some rooms in the faculty for this purpose, but the implementation is quite precarious. And to avoid problems, we bring our own equipment to work.  We should also have a place to print documents and not resort to another faculty because that takes time that should be spent on something else. 


Not only should we have computer equipment, but we should also have cameras or mobile phones to take records.  It is not a career that requires attending a class with just a notebook and pencil, it also requires these tools that are fundamental to the execution of the work.

Personally I think that the teaching method is generally good. There are very good teachers with an incredible capacity for knowledge and good teachers from whom I learned a lot, but there are also some very bad ones who don't care much about the training they are giving. And I think that it diminishes the prestige of the university and that is where the attention should be paid and the concerns of the students should be collected in the teacher evaluation surveys.
